Abstract:
The course will present an overview of the main aspects of cluster analysis, according to the following list of topics: introduction and motivation, clustering around centroids, hierarchical distance-based methods, statistical mixture model based clustering, measurements of similarity and distance, estimating the number of clusters, checking the validity and visualizing clusters, data examples with R. The course is scheduled in three sessions (session 1: Monday 16th, 17:00-19:00; session 2: Tuesday 17th, 11:00-13:00; session 3: Wednesday 18th, 9:00-11:00).
