Abstract:
We present two experiences gained with interactions with the industry, highlighting the positive as well as the negative feedbacks received. In the first one, a model is set up for the simulation of a bioreactor functioning in a waste treatment plant, taking into account the most important chemical reactions that occur within the tank, as well as the likely presence of microbial communities that help the anaerobic digestion process. The second one concers instead a model of a control device for domestic heating. The problem is investigated through approximation theoretic tools, to detect and suitably react to sudden unexpected events.
